The College of Technology and Aviation in Salina has pursued a number of college advancements to reduce its environmental impact while reducing costs.

  • The Salina Registrar has completed electronic scanning of historical student records and all current records are completed and stored electronically.
  • Car pooling when possible is encouraged.
  • Recycling paper is encouraged.
  • Polycom and webinar opportunities are provided and encouraged rather than travel to Manhattan for meetings.
  • Campus-wide climate control investments are being made to reduce energy usage while enhancing comfort.
  • As remodeling of buildings occurs, Facilities Department uses energy efficient material and replaces thermostats.
  • The College has replaced boilers and installed a new HVAC system that is computer operated to maintain most efficient use during peak hours and down times.
  • Water usage is decreased due to scheduled watering on limited areas of campus grounds.
  • Lighting: using more energy efficient lighting/bulbs.
  • Utilizing conference calling more to cut down travel.
